No Progress
Had an appointment today and no progress. Still not dilated, effaced, anything. I guess I should enjoy the last little bit of my time with only Chandler but it's hard when I'm as big as I am. Baby is measuring term (40) weeks & my weight was at 172 today. Nice that I haven't really put on weight in the last month. My BP was a little high but not high enough for them to really be worried. Dr. Allred said this baby is really taking up every bit of space that he possibly can. He's not moving as much but I think it's due to him not having any room. Anyways, I think it's a good possibility that I will go to my due date and probably over. It would be nice to deliver sooner rather than later as Marshall doesn't have work or school again until the 9th.

Darn it! Sorry Tif! Here's my advice- 2 words- STATIONARY BIKE. Worked for me-twice. I wasn't dialated even a little, and it got me to a three and to an induction 10 days early. But if you do it, be prepared for some weird looks. :-)
hang in there! And don't feel too bad, neither Avry or I ever came early with our babies. The end seems like it takes forever, and then that second one is there and it is pure chaos with the two kids. Take the time to get some things in order!
My last appointment before I had Moura, it was on a Wednesday, I was "high and tight" as the Dr. put it and he said he would see me the next week at my next appointment. I went into labor on my own that Sunday morning and never made it to the next week's appointment. :-)
Just do whatever you can to avoid an induction! Oh and eat some candy, that always makes me feel better. he he.
Camille - I will try the stationary bike. Marsh & I went and played basketball a few days ago and I ran stairs. Didn't do anything but make me sore, lol!
Jer - they won't induce me I have to go on my own. It's too risky for the uterus to rupture if they give you pitocin, so it's either go into labor on my own or schedule a c-section.
I've decided that if I don't go by the 23rd or 24th, I will schedule a c-section. I think 12 days over my due date is enough time to give my body to go into labor. I don't think any of us Nielson girls make small babies either, lol. That gives me hope when you say you were high and tight with Moura and only made it to Sunday. The last couple weeks I've been hoping I'd be effaced enough to get my membranes stripped - no suck luck.
I was complaining to Marshall after my appointment about how I hate going full term and over. He made the comment, "So you hate having healthy babies?" That kind of hit me hard. I'm so close, what's another few weeks, right? I should be grateful I can carry babies to term and they are healthy, right?
Tif, I just read something interesting in American Baby about second pregnancies, "your baby dropping into your pelvis and your cervix starting to efface don't usually happen until labor is actually underway".
I heard that same fact before (Birch comments). You could try castor oil if you can stand it without puking. Don't get too dehydrated though, that is a big risk with that stuff. Also, I really think heavy cleaning is what accidentally threw me into labor with Eli (but I was dilated at a 2 by 28 weeks which probably helped). But some forced "nesting" may do the trick. Good luck. I've never had to wait until full term but I know I would go crazy. I am usually nuts with anticipation and anxiety for the last two months. I hope all goes well and keep us posted. GET SLEEP WHILE YOU CAN THOUGH (Eli is up every hour and a half at night...yikes!).
What a smart husband. I never went over so don't know why you girls didn't take after me. I still think hes coming on Marshall's birthday.
just hang in there. I was early with both my girls but i was induced with Nadia and it was no fun at all.
I am glad my girls came early though because they were already full term at 38 weeks. Bia was a week early at 8 pounds 10 oz.
I heard having sex will start the labor, don't know if that's true or not.. hehe
For some darn reason us Nielson girls don't go early & our bodies aren't ready until the due date or there after. I am proud of you to hear you say that you won't schedule a c-section until the 23rd or 24th. GOOD for you for letting your body try and do it naturally instead of scheduling that dang c-section I admire you for trying it. Hang in there I remember with Maeli I went to my appointment on a Thursday and wasn't doing ANYTHING. no dialating no effacing etc. and she was born on Monday. Didn't make it to my next appointment either. So hang in there! He may just suprise you & come when you least expect it.
okay...lets go for a walk, or run, or even a stair climb! I will watch chandler while you do laps! Just kidding. Lets look at this on the positive, what do you want to get done before baby comes?! Also, I would encourage you to take some last photos of the two and a half of you before Rowan comes. For Chan.
